Optimizing Natural Spaces

Terrapin's work optimizing natural spaces improves habitat for wildlife; promotes pollinator activity; conserves and protects water sources; provides beautiful meditative outdoor places for recreation, education, and relaxation; and reduces property owners' required maintenance.

Managing Invasive Species

Invasive plants, those not native to where we live, can crowd out native plants that local wildlife relies upon. With effective management, TES can convert your green space to a beautiful oasis that demands less work and less water to thrive.

Our past and current projects in this area include:

Landscaping with Native Plants

Elevate your yard with plants that are accustomed to the local climate and soil conditions and at the same time provide needed habitat for birds, butterflies, and other beneficial wildlife. Enjoy more time outdoors relaxing instead of caring for your lawn.

Our past and current projects in this area include:

Installing Rain Gardens

Introduce a distinctive feature to your outdoor space while also protecting a vital natural resource.  Rain gardens help retain and clean water and  reduce the burden on local stormwater systems.  See how nature takes care of us and itself.

TES President Lynn Capuano has been trained by the University of Connecticut Center for Land Use Education and Research in function, design, construction, and maintenance of vegetated rain gardens for the control and treatment of stormwater runoff.

Developing Pollinator Gardens

Pollinators are key to many plants’ growth and survival and are crucial to our food supply.  Bringing the beauty of these creatures to your yard and contribute to environmental protection at the same time.
