Who We Are


Terrapin Environmental Solutions Inc. (TES) builds partnerships to keep local air, water, and land resources clean and available for everyone.  We provide a wide range of in-school, after-school, and school-vacation environmental education programs and services that provide important learning, leadership, stewardship, and community service opportunities aligned to state and national standards.  Our programs include:

  • Working with teachers and administrators to deliver customized professional-development training addressing methods for integrating outdoor and environmental education lessons into the standard curricula.
  • Collaborating with schools to institute and manage outdoor education programs like school gardens and composting.
  • Implementing innovative environmentally sustainable solutions for public and private clients who have decided to reduce their environmental impact.
  • Developing and administering community-based efforts to enhance the environmental benefits and education opportunities of local green spaces.

Founded in 2015 by its President, Lynn Capuano, J.D., M.S., TES is based in Port Washington, New York, and serves the tri-state area.

Lynn has over 12 years of technical and analytical experience in environmental management, sustainability, regulatory compliance, and disaster mitigation; over 8 years as a teacher working with pre-school through graduate-level students; and 8 years practicing environmental, civil, and criminal law.  Throughout her professional career, Lynn has succeeded in bringing stakeholders together to find mutually beneficial and desirable solutions.


Prior to launching TES, Lynn worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, managing compliance and enforcement data production, publication, exchange, and analysis in collaboration with state, tribal, and internal partners.


As an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard and Coast Guard Reserve for over 18 years, Lynn has extensive experience in disaster mitigation, incident response, and operations training and planning.  Her work has included reviewing mitigation plans for environmental efficacy and compliance, legal research, compliance determinations, and policy review as well as extensive public interaction and interagency engagement.


Lynn’s varied background as a lawyer, teacher, officer, and civil servant comes together in her formation of TES.  Leveraging her learned skills, years of experience and continuing commitment to learn and grow, she gives her clients solutions to their problems.  Whether it is a lesson for students, a workshop for teachers, or a sustainability plan for a business or homeowner, Lynn provides a thoughtful, effective, engaging, and relevant answer responsive to her clients' specific needs.


Lynn holds certificates from Cornell University in Environmental Education Outcomes and E-STEM Education.
